Prepare Onion Pakora Batter:

  • In a large bowl, mix gram flour, rice flour, ginger-garlic paste, chopped green chilies (if using), red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin, asafoetida, and salt.
  • Add water gradually to the mixture and make a smooth and thick batter while stirring continuously. Make sure there are no lumps.

Add Onion and Coriander:

  • Add finely chopped onion and chopped coriander leaves to the batter.
  • Mix well making sure the onion pieces are evenly coated in the batter.

Heat oil for frying:

  • To fry the pakoras, heat oil in a deep pan or wok on medium heat.
  • To check whether the oil is hot enough, drop a small amount of batter in the oil. If it immediately crackles on the surface, then the oil is ready for frying.
