Recipe for Bhindi Fry
Ingredients:
250 grams bhindi (okra), washed and dried
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 onion, finely chopped
2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
Salt to taste
Freshly squeezed lemon juice, to taste
Chopped coriander leaves, for garnish
Instructions recipe for Bhindi Fry:
- Trim the ends of the bhindi and cut them into small pieces or slices.
- Heat oil in a pan or skillet over medium heat.
- Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds to the hot oil and let them splutter.
- Add the chopped onions and green chilies to the pan and sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste to the pan and sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
- Add the turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well, ensuring the spices are evenly distributed.
- Add the sliced bhindi to the pan and mix gently, ensuring that the bhindi is coated with the spice mixture.
- Cook the bhindi on low to medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it becomes tender and cooked through. This usually takes around 10-15 minutes.
- Once the bhindi is cooked, squeeze some fresh lemon juice over it and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve the Bhindi Fry as a side dish with roti, paratha, or rice.
