Recipe Of Dal Bhurji
Component :
1 cup yellow moong dal
1 tablespoon oil or ghee (clarified butter)
1 tsp cumin
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tomato, finely chopped
1 green chilli, finely chopped (optional)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
salt to taste
fresh coriander, chopped for garnish
lemon wedges, for serving
Instruction Recipe Of Dal Bhurji:
- Wash the moong dal in running water and soak it in water for about 30 minutes. Filter the water before use.
- Heat oil or ghee in a wok or pan on medium heat.
- Put cumin seeds in hot oil and let them crackle.
- Add chopped onions to the pan and fry till translucent.
- Add green chilies and chopped tomatoes to the pan. Cook till the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
- Add the soaked and drained moong dal to the pan. Mix the onion and tomato mixture well.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, salt and garam masala. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
- Cook the dal on a low to medium flame, while stirring occasionally, till the dal becomes soft. You can add little water to adjust the consistency if required.
- Once the dal is cooked, mash it slightly with the back of a spoon or a potato masher. This will give a slightly thicker texture to the dish.
- Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve hot Dal Bhurji with roti, naan or rice and eat. If desired, squeeze a little lemon juice over it for an extra tangy flavor.
